Jack Martin will tomorrow go in for surgery after a consultation with shoulder specialists today.
The Gold Coast young gun had a bitter sweet entry to AFL football with his side producing a stirring victory but all Martin could do was watch on from the sidelines after injuring his right shoulder in the first quarter.
A club statement released this evening stated that surgery was the best option for Martin and the Suns' General Manager of Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said "during the consultation it was determined that surgery was the best way to treat the injury."
He continued to say that Martin was in a good head space, but was unable to give an estimation of when the 19 year old will return.
“Following Jack’s surgery he will continue extensive rehabilitation. As he progresses we will be in a better position to establish when he will be available to return” Ashcroft said.

Will Jack Martin come back this year? Is he going to be as good as Jaeger O'Meara?
