The Gold Coast Suns are reportedly facing an uphill battle to retain midfielders Dion Prestia and Jaeger O'Meara in 2017.
The young star midfield duo are both out of contract at the end of the season and are said to be already being chased by rival clubs, despite that being outside the rules of the competition.
3AW's Sam McClure spoke on radio last night in Melbourne saying that the Suns will be looking to do everything they can to keep a hold of Prestia, rather than O'Meara with the Suns almost reisgned to the fact the young West Australian midfielder will leaving the club at the end of the year.
Both endured tough years in 2015 with O'Meara failing to play a game due to battling a knee injury, while Prestia suffered the same fate midway through the season.
O'Meara has played just the 44 games in his career thus far but is already building a fairly impressive resume. He won the 2013 NAB Rising Star and is averaging 21 disposals in his 44 games so far.
Prestia is much the same. Already the vice-captain of the club, Prestia finished a career high third in the best and fairest in 2014 and is averaging 23 disposals per match across his 81 games so far in his career.
