Carlton has joined the race for out of contract Gold Coast midfielder Dion Prestia.

Richmond, Melbourne and Essendon have already declared their interests in the star on-baller, with Carlton now signalling their intentions to lure Prestia to the club in 2017.

Reports in The Age however suggest that the Blues are not willing to part ways with their first round draft picks, which the Gold Coast Suns would almost certainly demand should Prestia request a move away from the club.

On Monday, Prestia was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, leaving it up in there as to whether he has in fact played his last game for the struggling Gold Coast side.
